ML Engineer

Small team, big scope. You'll be one of the first AI hires at Zerodha, shaping architecture, hiring bar, and the roadmap. Equity is meaningful.

As a ML Engineer at Zerodha, you'll join a small, senior team building AI-native edtech products from the ground up. You'll work daily with GPT-4, Cursor, Midjourney to design, ship, and scale features that customers use every day. This is a high-ownership role — you'll have direct input on what we build and how we build it.

• Instrument observability — eval pipelines, prompt versioning, cost dashboards
• Write clean, well-tested code in Python / TypeScript and review PRs from peers
• Design, build, and ship production-grade AI features using GPT-4, Cursor, Midjourney
• Mentor junior builders and contribute to engineering standards
• Build retrieval, RAG, and agent pipelines that scale to thousands of concurrent users
• Architect end-to-end edtech workflows that integrate LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) with internal systems
• Optimise inference cost, latency, and reliability across services

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on portfolio
• Comfort working with vector databases (pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate)
• Have shipped LLM-powered products to real users (not just prototypes)
• 7+ years of experience as a ML Engineer or in a closely related role
• Strong written communication — you can document decisions clearly
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or both
• Strong hands-on experience with GPT-4 / Cursor / Midjourney in real production environments

• Open source contributions to AI / dev-tools projects
• Built and operated agentic systems in production
• Past work in the EdTech domain
• Have written publicly (blog posts, talks, OSS) about AI engineering

• Work on problems that genuinely move the needle in EdTech
