Founding AI Engineer
NewAbout the Role
Move at startup speed inside Cred. No tickets, no sprints — just outcomes. You'll ship internal tools and customer-facing features weekly using Claude and modern AI tooling.
As a Founding AI Engineer at Cred, you'll join a small, senior team building AI-native edtech products from the ground up. You'll work daily with Replit, ChatGPT, Lovable to design, ship, and scale features that customers use every day. This is a high-ownership role — you'll have direct input on what we build and how we build it.
What You'll Do
- Mentor junior builders and contribute to engineering standards
- Build retrieval, RAG, and agent pipelines that scale to thousands of concurrent users
- Architect end-to-end edtech workflows that integrate LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) with internal systems
- Optimise inference cost, latency, and reliability across services
- Collaborate with product, design, and customer teams to translate business problems into AI solutions
- Own the full lifecycle of features — from spec, prototype, A/B test, to rollout
- Lead architectural reviews for new EdTech initiatives
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience as a Founding AI Engineer or in a closely related role
- Strong written communication — you can document decisions clearly
- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or both
- Strong hands-on experience with Replit / ChatGPT / Lovable in real production environments
- Bias for shipping — comfortable owning ambiguous problems end-to-end
- Experience with prompt engineering, evals, and prompt-versioning workflows
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, queues, and event-driven design
Nice to Have
- Past work in the EdTech domain
- Comfort with Kubernetes, Terraform, or modern infra-as-code
- Open source contributions to AI / dev-tools projects
- Have written publicly (blog posts, talks, OSS) about AI engineering
